4.5 stars (rounded up). I found this book very hard to put down. Well-developed and very enjoyable characters, an interesting storyline, and a fast-pace makes this an entertaining read.The story first introduces Sarah who seems to be an ordinary girl with some bad luck. But, you quickly learn that she's not human and is about to go through a "shift" that occurs to all members of her species. The shift itself would be fairly simple if it weren't for the fact that some people with dark intentions want her and will do anything it takes to claim her.
Here's a really interesting point about this book: approximately 85% of it takes place in one house. This occurred to me near the end of the novel and I'm impressed that the author was able to hold my attention given that. The characters drive the story and they're well-developed. I found myself cheering for all of them in different ways, loving the banter between the brothers, and hoping the little romance blossoms as the series continues.
The narration style is third-person omniscient, which isn't my favorite, especially when thoughts from two characters are shared in the same paragraph. However, the author makes it work and I never questioned to which character a thought related.
Since the main part of the conflict wasn't resolved by the end, I'll definitely be looking for the next volume in this series. Very curious to see what happens.

Excellent first book .. that I did not want to end! Can't wait to read the next! (And all future books from JT Bishop!)
Great story. Loved the whole book. Aliens among us(I think I have met a few). Action packed throughout the story. Loved the characters in it. Hate that it is three parts. Very intense.
Love it. Fast paced. Excellent writing. Story line with Ramsey and Sarah is great. Then throw in Ramsey's step brother. Highly recommend

I enjoyed this book very much! The premise was new and fresh, the writing descriptive and the dialogue moved the story along at a good clip. The characters were diverse and fun to get know and to see how they changed or were affected from the beginning to the end! A fun read that I will follow to the sequels!
I thoroughly enjoyed this newly found (by me) author's novel. Although the plot is familiar there is a freshness which connects you to the main protagonists. Can't wait to start the second volume. Great work.
Warning You will likely lose some sleep with this book. It is one of those books where you will find yourself still reading at 200 AM thinking to yourself...just one more chapter.
I was drawn in from the beginning and stayed in through the end. The characters and dialogue are worthy of a Taratino film at times witty and humorous, sometimes exciting, sometimes slow...but always building (and usually building to something cool.)
It's sci-fi, but on the light side so it's great even if you aren't really a sci-fi fan.
Can't wait for the rest of the series from this up and coming author!
