This is a great book! I was loaned a copy and had to have my own ... I am ordering two more to give as gifts.It is easy to read and brings to light how this "relationship" with God was intended. I particularly enjoyed the personal examples and the transparency. Relationships on this earth will be sticky because we are human and not perfect. It gave me significant insight into who the Holy Spirit is and how I can engage Him as well as my Savior and my Heavenly Father.
Love this short book - definitely worth reading and passing along.

Interesting book that I purchased for a class. Even one chapter in, the book can stir within you the roots of your own salvation and testimony. Quick and easy to read. One of those books that you will read a couple time to pull different things out of. Thinking and honest evaluation required.
I read this book as part of a group study. I was surprised that it was small, but sometimes the best things come in small packages. Each chapter opened my heart and mind to God in a new way.
If you are looking for a book to deepen your relationship with God, then this is an excellent choice, especially for women. Having a relationship with God is often referred to but rarely explained. Instead of a set of rules or things to do, there is an exploration of God's role in our lives and how we can respond to him. In addition, Debbie Swindoll honestly shares her own experiences, which only adds to the effectiveness of this book.
This is one I would like to read again, because I'm sure there is more in there waiting for me.
Some of the devotional books I've read explicitly claim to help me deepen my relationship with God but once I begin reading them, the focus shifts to spiritual practices and activities I can do to grow spiritually. The invitation to relationship with God becomes a faint murmur drowned out by the urgency of the call to aggressively engage in practices that will transform me. I end up feeling like I've been given a lot of well-intended busy work that obscures the voice of God and reinforces the ambivalence that I sometimes feel about a relationship with Him.
This book is different. The invitation to engage with God is front and center, leaving spiritual practices in the background. The author explores God's invitation to a relationship with Him as written throughout the scriptures and explains, through personal examples and biblical insights, how to participate in this relationship and open deeply to his transforming grace. This book is short, but powerful. Take the time to ponder this invitation to abide deeply in the heart of God.
This book also includes discussion questions, making it a great introductory resource for small groups that want to journey more deeply into their relationship with God and each other.
